Eldico is growing: meet our two new members

Warm welcome to our two new members who will help materializing a dream: bringing Eldico’s disruptive instrument to the market.

Eldico was founded with the clear mission to advocate for what the four co-founders reckon as the future of crystallography: the dedicated electron diffractometer. Not only will the emergence of such an instrument make investigating the atomic structure of molecules easier, but also better and cheaper. Bringing such a complex device to the market needs a fully dedicated team of professionals. “That is how we came to meet our Senior Technical Project Manager, Francesco, and our Junior Marketing Manager and Storyteller, Emma”, says Eric Hovestreydt, CEO of ELDICO. Both have started on August 1st and are already making an impact.

Engineering the future

With extensive project management and consulting knowledge, Francesco understands the planning and implementation of large-scale projects like no one else. He has lead cross-functional teams in GE and Alstom among other large organizations and has broad experience in planning and budgeting global projects, portfolio management and execution. Originally from Italy, with an MBA from ESCP Paris and a Bsc in Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, the 36-years-old's story gains now a new perspective. He says: ‘I am able to catch the devil in the details without losing the focus on the big picture. Working for a company like Eldico is the perfect environment.’

Francesco will be present in the implementation of the product concept in an agile context, will interact with the manufacturing partners, will supervise the critical paths and deadlines within the R&D budget, and, last but not least, will be participating in the design of internal company processes.

Bringing science to market

With most of her academic research centered on medical humanities and as such writing on highly complex topics, there is no surprise that Emma feels at home in scientific marketing. Supporting brand positioning of a disruptive technology is ‘no walk in the park’. That’s why she says: ‘I am excited to start a job where I can capitalize on my previous research interests, while having access to incredible amounts of information and feeling that my ideas really make a difference.’ The 26-years-old is originally from Romania, studied at King's College London for a master's in Comparative Literature and is now solidifying her business knowledge with and MBA from Swiss Business School.

Emma will develop and drive scientific content management, implementation of marketing campaigns, conceptual communication strategies and event management. Surely, coming up with fresh concepts would be mostly welcome and this is precisely why we are delighted to have her on board.

Wishing both of them the best of luck with their challenging and fulfilling new positions!

About ELDICO

ELDICO Scientific, The Electron Diffraction Company, is a Swiss hardware company founded 2019 and is located in Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), one of the world's leading research centers for natural and engineering sciences. ELDICO develops, produces and sells electron diffractometers for the analysis of solid compounds enabling industrial and scientific researchers to characterise hitherto unmeasurable nano-crystalline systems. So far conventional methods (X-ray) fail, because they require bigger crystal sizes, which are often difficult or even impossible to produce. With support of the Nano Argovia Programme and the Swiss Nanosience Insitute (SNI) the proof-of-concept was achieved in 2018 (ETH Zurich, C-CINA Basel) on scientifically and industrially relevant samples.
